Homework Buzz

It is great to see students so enthusiastic about the inquiry topic 'What it means to be a New Zealander.' Today Hamish brought along a poster he has been working on at home about the Kiwi. Well done Hamish :)

Week 7

Hi everyone

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Wow what a busy but exciting week this is!!!
We had a great session with Life Education on Monday afternoon. We learnt all about the different types of foods we eat- including foods from the ground, animals and ingredients.

Today we spent the morning learning about plants and what they need to survive. This was followed by the Garden to Table kitchen session where we made fresh spring rolls and zucchini muffins...YUM! Thank you to all the parent helpers for your support.

Reminders:
-Tomorrow Room 16 will be going to Ferrymead for the day. Please be at school on time as the buses will be leaving at 9.10am. Students will need a hat, sunblock, water, lunch, warm jersey and comfy shoes.

-If you have any journals or overdue library books could these please be brought back to school.

Here are some snaps from our Garden to Table session today :)

Week 6

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a super weekend :)

Thank you for the great work you are doing with your homework. Continue to keep filling out your basic facts and reading log (please return school journals the next day), weekly spelling words and sentences.

Today a notice/permission slip went out regarding a Ferrymead visit next week. Please return as soon as possible.

Tomorrow Room 16 is having a Kiwiana feast...L&P, Pavlova and Hokey Pokey
ice cream....Yum!!! (watch this space)

Rutherford's Den

On Thursday last week Room 16 participated in a Rutherford's Den Outreach Programme. The programme provided was called Ernest’s Era – with an emphasis on Famous New Zealanders. It was very interactive and covered the life and times of Ernest Rutherford, together with an introduction to other famous New Zealanders who were in Christchurch at the same time. Room 16 examined why and how they are celebrated and how they relate to us as New Zealanders.

Thank you to Grace who helped with the demonstrations.
